Demand for embroidery services leads to unique business

The Sun visited entrepreneur Mary Mathis of Venetia, who owns a unique business in the Roosevelt Square shopping center, next to Tom & Betty’s Restaurant. Mathis and her husband, Ben, operate Freedom Enterprise IV Unleashed, which offers embroidery services and pet supplies and gifts.

Tell me about your bizarre business?

(Laugh) We have an identity crisis for sure. People wander in and then go back out and look up at the sign, trying to figure out what we’re about.

Tell me about yourself:

I was born and raised in Pennsylvania. I worked as a secretary for Caterpillar. There I met my husband, Ben, who was a boater. If I hadn’t met Ben, I probably would have stayed at Caterpillar all my life and retired from there. Instead, he basically said, let’s blow this place and we did.

We lived on a sailboat for 12 years and it was a lot of fun. I’ve been able to visit a lot of different places. We went to the Bahamas several times. We ran a boat business in the 1980s. We spent time in Fort Pierce and St

The money comes from Leverage and that comes from recruiting new distributors and training them.

If you want to retail product, your sales efforts should emphasize products. But when you are trying to recruit members for your downline, this is the wrong approach. You are not trying to sell product to a potential recruit, so why should that be the major focus of your sales presentation?

When you are recruiting, you are really trying to sell three things: *1-Yourself, as a potential business partner; *2-A business opportunity; and 3*-Their dream of a profitable business.

Product is a very distant fourth. Your prospect will want to be assured that they will be representing a good product that people want. This is a given. You don’t want to spend your time with programs that produce inferior products at inflated prices.

But hundreds of MLM programs have great products. You aren’t trying to find a retail customer, you are trying to recruit a business partner.

Sabotage fear after 60 die in train crash

0 Comments | Western Morning News, The, Jul 20, 2010

India yesterday refused to rule out sabotage in a train crash that killed more than 60 people and injured dozens more.

The crash happened when a fast-moving express slammed into another train as it left the platform at Sainthia, about 125 miles north of Calcutta.

Three carriages of of the second train were destroyed, leaving a tangle of twisted metal. Two were reserved for passengers on the cheapest tickets and are usually packed to capacity.

The impact was so great the roof of one carriage was hurled on to an overpass above the tracks.

It was the second major train crash in the state of West Bengal in the past two months. On May 28 a passenger train derailed and was hit by an cargo train in a crash that killed 145 people. Authorities blamed sabotage by Maoist rebels.

Accidents are common on India’s sprawling rail network, one of the world’s largest, with most blamed on poor maintenance and human error

BIOTONE Edu-Partner Community Outreach Award Program Still Open for Entry

Business Wire, Nov 12, 2008

Two Winning Edu-Partner Massage Schools Will Receive $2500 Grants

SAN DIEGO — BIOTONE announces that it is continuing to accept applications through the end of this year for its 2008 Edu-Partner Community Outreach Award Program. BIOTONE will award two massage schools $2500 each for volunteer massage therapy programs conducted during 2008 that help individuals in their community and at the same time provide massage students with an educational experience. Only BIOTONE Edu-Partner Schools are eligible for the Award. BIOTONE will announce the award recipients in February 2009.

The BIOTONE Community Outreach Award is part of the company’s Edu-Partner initiative in which BIOTONE helps schools raise their visibility among prospective students, and schools can participate with the company in joint marketing activities. To date, some 800 schools participate in the BIOTONE Edu-Partner program.

Criteria for award consideration include impact of the program on the community, benefit to recipients and ability to meet stated goals. Award winners for 2007 included The Academy of Somatics & Massage, Oxnard, Calif., for providing chair massage to participants in the American Cancer Walk and the Blue Ridge School of Massage & Yoga, Blacksburg, Va., for responding to its community in need during the aftermath of the Virginia Tech shootings.

Submission for the BIOTONE Community Outreach Award officially ends on December 31. To be considered, a program must be completed by the end of the year

Adults know what they want, when they want it and how to get it. Adults don?t eat cream cheese and jelly on mini-bagels, nor do they gulp down hot chocolate with marshmallows and whipped cream. In their pajamas. And when they do wear pajamas, it?s something sophisticated like plaid or polka dots, not Happy Bunny or cute purple puppies.

Clearly, I was not an Adult. Sure, I was 22 years young, but when I wasn?t at school, I was still living in the house I grew up in, across the hall from my parents? bedroom. I wore giant pink bunny slippers, sweatpants and my boyfriend?s oversized sweatshirts. My mother made me dinner and my father did my laundry. This isn?t in any way their fault ? of course you want to make life as comfortable as possible for your children, the fruit of your loins ? but partially because of this, I still felt like a child.

The heterogeneous market is broken up in the process into a number of fairly homogeneous units.

The process is based on the recognition that any given market or consumer group is made up of a number of subgroups distinguished by varying needs and buying behaviors. In addition, it is feasible to disaggregate the consumers into suitable segments in such a manner that the characteristics of the segmented groups would vary significantly among segments, but would also be identical within segments.

Market segmentation confers several benefits on the business firms. In the first place, it helps distinguish one customer group from another within a given market, thereby enabling a business to decide which segment of the market should form the target market.

Special award for county’s volunteers

0 Comments | Derby Evening Telegraph, Jul 27, 2010

GENERAL: A group of young volunteers have been rewarded for their efforts in community sport at a ceremony at Alton Towers.

A total of 28 members of the Derbyshire Sports Leadership Academy – who between them have logged more than 5,000 hours of volunteering in sport over the past year within schools and the local community – were invited to attend the event at the Staffordshire theme park.

Among them were Rebecca Hinchley from Highfields School in Matlock and Oliver Hooper from Brookfield Community School in Chesterfield, who were given special recognition awards for Outstanding Achievement in Leadership after each volunteering for more than 900 hours in the past 12 months.

Hinchley’s volunteering work has included assisting on the Sky Living For Sport Project, which uses sport to help 11 to 16-year- olds improve their health, develop self-esteem and increase attainment and achievement. Also honoured were Woodlands School quartet Tom Rothwell, Charlotte Rhodes, Emily Stewart and Alistair Wolff.

The Derbyshire Sports Leadership Academy aims to get more young people volunteering in sport.

The web-based initiative allows members to record their volunteering hours, search for courses, find discounts on courses, enter competitions and get in touch with other members of the academy.

It provides support and rewards volunteers by providing incentives when milestones are reached.

It is related to the intellect, and allows man to enjoy and benefit from the afterlife. This part of the soul is provided both to Jew and non-Jew alike at birth. It allows one to have some awareness of the existence and presence of God.

The Raaya Meheimna discusses the two other parts of the human soul, the chayyah and yehidah first mentioned in the Midrash Rabbah. Gershom Scholem writes that these “were considered to represent the sublimest levels of intuitive cognition, and to be within the grasp of only a few chosen individuals”. The Chayyah and the Yechidah do not enter into the body like the other three.

Chayyah – The part of the soul that allows one to have an awareness of the divine life force itself.

Yehidah – the highest plane of the soul, in which one can achieve as full a union with God as is possible.

Market Wire, July, 2010

Jacuzzi, a global leader in the hot tub and luxury bath industries, has launched a new hot tub blog to keep consumers up-to-date with the latest news and deals. Social Media profiles on Twitter and Facebook as well as a YouTube channel have also been created to help people connect and share interests and the great experiences they have had.

Interested consumers and Jacuzzi owners can find what they want, whether they’re looking to learn more about a Jacuzzi portable hot tub or whirlpool bath, or tell others how much they love their new hot tub or bath. Jacuzzi’s Twitter account also offers the latest deals and promotions so customers can save on these famous, high-quality spas and baths.

“We are excited and proud to share these new social media sites with our customers. We have found Jacuzzi owners to be very loyal as they continue to do business with us beyond their first hot tubs or baths,” said Internet Marketing Manager Kevin Kasten. Pam Messick, Internet Marketing/Social Media Coordinator, added, “We hope that through the new blog and our presence on Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube, consumers who have not yet experienced a Jacuzzi hot tub or bath will be able to hear first-hand accounts from current Jacuzzi owners of the quality of the products and the great service that we offer.”

These new profiles will also educate customers on products beyond traditional hot tubs and baths. For example, many people may not be aware that Jacuzzi offers a two-person hot tub, special filters, and ozone systems to enhance their spa experience. Jacuzzi even makes a two-person bathtub.

Jacuzzi welcomes Jacuzzi owners and those interested in Jacuzzi to become a fan of Jacuzzi on Facebook , follow Jacuzzi on Twitter , watch videos on the Jacuzzi YouTube channel, or read the Jacuzzi Hot Tub Blog .
